1930s Reproduction Quilt Top

Another QIP.  I have followed along with a Quilt Along over at Happy Quilting.  The instructions given in the Quilt Along are extremely helpful and very detailed. 

Here are my blocks awaiting assembly and finishing.  This block is made in an unusual way, and I found it to be the funnest block I have ever made.  Also, it goes together quite quickly, and you can make a fairly large quilt in less time because the pieces are a nice size and not overly small.  I look forward to using this block to attack more of my stash.  I'm not totally sure what I am going to do with this quilt once she is done; whether she'll be for sale or not.  It measures approximately 31" x 50".

I Needed Some More Fabric!

A local quilt shop celebrates Mardi Gras by selling fat quarters for $1 each for one day in March!  I was surprised at my own self-control.  Having given myself permission to spend $100, I came far short of that and was still very happy with my purchase. 

I chose modern fabrics that I don't have in my rather traditional stash.  On the left are blue coordinates with two non-coordinating wild flower fabrics to match the childish prints I already have.  The second column from the left has purple coordinates for dainty baby quilts.  And the other two columns are modern, rather weird fabrics, that will make modern, rather spectacular quilts.  You'll see some fun quilts coming from these in the near future!

All Roads Lead Home Quilt

Another QIP (quilt in progress).  This is the quilt pattern I found in a magazine but couldn't find the pattern for, so I made it up myself.  You can read that post here.  Here is a picture of her on my design wall.  The two upper rows and setting triangles do not fit on the wall, nor does the border.  This quilt will take a bit of time to finish because I am designing a border using all of the left over tiny four-patches.  She will be a queen size when finished and will likely be for sale in my Etsy shop, Busy Hands Quilts, when finished.

Postage Stamp Quilt

Remember the Postage Stamp Quilt Along I participated in last month?  She is now on the quilting machine, patiently awaiting being quilted!  I'll use a freehand stipple (not the pattern you see on the machine frame) because it is my all-time favorite way to quilt a quilt - I simply love the meandering look.  This quilt would also look great with straight line quilting, but I do not have a walking foot for my sewing machine ... yet!  A walking foot is on my birthday list this year!  The backing is a bright yellow floral which matches one of the fabrics in the top.  This quilt is a twin size and when finished will be for sale in my Etsy store, Busy Hands Quilts.
