WIP Wednesday!

Here are two projects I am currently working on.

A cool wave quilt in fun polar animals {bears, seals, penguins}, water, rocks, and snowflakes.

Here's a peek at the backing - a row of sea creatures in the midst of snowflakes.  My first ever pieced backing ... no, it isn't that crooked -the strips are lying over the back of a chair and are not sewn together yet.

Stars Light My Path is being quilted!  I'm using dark red thread on the stars and 9-patch blocks and tan thread around the stars.  She is about 36" square.

Stars Light My Path Quilt in Progress

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Fresh Fabric Treats by the Moda Bake Shop Designers is the source of my latest quilting project!  I'm making the Summer Sorbet Quilt pattern in Thimbleberries fabrics.  I've named it "Stars Light My Path".  This quilt is pictured on the front of the book.  I'm enjoying the way the wonky stars go together - nice and easy peasy with no exact matching or rocket science required.  I'm using my huge stack of 4-1/2" squares rather than the 5" squares the pattern calls for, without any problems.  Saves cutting time!  Here's a picture of them as I squared them up.

And here she is on my design wall.  The pattern in Fresh Fabric Treats is for an 80" x 80" quilt, but I am making two smaller wall hangings and a table runner with the 12 stars I made.  They'll be for sale in my Etsy shop soon!

Got Thread?

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I do!  Connecting Threads is having a sale on Cotton Essentials Thread!  This is what I got for $50, and orders over $50 qualify for free shipping, to boot!  The sale ends August 15th, 2011.  My order came in three days!
This is what I use for winding bobbins.  The Better Bobbin Winder saves wear and tear on my old Bernina 830.  The reason I chose this winder over others of lesser price is the foldable tall stand that holds thread coming from spools that must be pulled from the top - as the thread above from Connecting Threads is.  Another reason I purchased a winder is my 1896 long-arm Singer quilting machine also uses a lot of thread, and I can easily make numerous bobbins without unthreading my Bernina 830.
